Creating and hiding a cache.

This is my last post about geocaching and the last part of my badge about geocaching🙂 On this post I will be talking about my cache And where I hid it.

ABOUT MY CACHE.
To find the container I wanted we went on the internet and looked at some. We saw lots of funny shapes such as:
  • Sticks🌳
  • Snail shells 🐌
  • Butterflies 🦋
But my favourite by far was the frog container:

We got the blue one!

So that's what we ordered and hid. I'm not telling you where but here's a clue.  I've hidden it near my school!  😜

SPREAD THE WORD.
To spread the word I have made a poster to tell people about geocaching. I am going to print it off and give to my guide leader. Here it is in case you want some extra information.

That's my badge completed.  Goodbye until my next one. ✋💚

FINDING A GEOCACHE

To find a geocache, just go onto the app, type where you want to go looking for a geocache and go there.😀

This is the geocaching app.  The little green dots with boxes on them are geocaches that people have put there.   The smiley face shows geocaches that have been found by me.

The next picture shows the geochache that we were going to find.

The orange line is that path that you need to follow to find the geocache. The shorter the line gets, the closer you are to the cache.

When you get there, have a look around👀 and check the hint so you know where you are looking and what type of container it's in.

You should then find it.👍 I went out with my mum, dad and brother Ben to find one. It took some time to work out what the hint meant but we did it eventually.🌝 Here is what happened:

I hope this will give you some good ideas of how to geocache.  My next blog post will be about me creating a geocache and hiding.

By the way, my container is funny - I'm excited about getting the results of who found it.

GEOCACHING BADGE

Geocaching is a treasure hunt that uses coordinates to direct you to hidden containers called caches😆.

Here are some top tips for geocaching:
  • Make sure you have the geocaching app.
  • Look for something that seems out of place.👀
  • Geocaches are often disguised: I have found some that are in containers disguised as rocks or bolts.
  • Think like a detective, geocaches could be any where.
  • Look high, look low, look around.
  • Check the hint on the geocaching app.
  • Where sensible foot wear: Wellies or boots so if a geocache is in an area with lots of nettles, you don't have to worry about getting stung on the foot😨
  • Take a pen because geocaches have little slips of paper in so people can say that they have found it.
To earn my badge I must: find some geocaches, create a geocache and then tell people about it.

These are some hidden containers.

INTRODUCTION

Hi,✋ my name is Emily and this is my blog for my guide badges😀. My guide group is very nice and I enjoy it a lot. We do lots of fun things like go to the cinema😍 and go on days out😆.

This blog is so my leader ( Vicki ) can see what badges I have done. In this blog I will include:

  • What the badge I am doing is.
  • How I completed the badge.
  • How I prepared for the badge.
  • What went well😄 and what didn't😔.
Each badge has three challenges. To complete the badge I must do all three😲.

This is the guide logo😀

This is the book I am doing the badges with😀.
